Recycling

Typically, a round trip from the Wentworth to the Transfer Station takes less than 15 minutes and there are rarely any lines or back-ups at the transfer station. Once familiar with the recycling bins, the effort is only slightly greater than dropping the items at our shed. The WRCA Board of Directors
This encourages you to visit the Transfer Station website and become familiar with this useful service. Ultimately, recycling at the Transfer Station reduces the number of pick-ups by our waste hauling contractor; thus, WRCA waste disposal costs can be reduced.

Most items are deposited free of charge, but some disposal fees are applicable to larger items, as listed below and on their website.

The WRCA Board of Directors wishes to remind owners, that recycling of waste materials from the condominium units can be done at the Bartlett/Jackson Transfer Station located just off Route 16 south of the Red Fox Pub. They are open Friday through Tuesday from noon to 6:00 P.M. Therefore, they are open during weekends and most weekdays. The Transfer Station is a well-run facility which has the ability to recycle common household wastes as well as larger items such as televisions, air conditioners, furniture, etc. Normal household rubbish/food waste can be deposited in their compactor.

The Bartlett/Jackson Transfer Station has a website which provides detailed information on what can be recycled Visit The Town’s Website. The website lists how the recycled materials are broken down into categories. A vehicle sticker is required for recycling and can be obtained free of charge at the Transfer Station or Jackson Town offices. All that is needed is a copy of your tax or a utility bill.

The Transfer Station has an active recycling program. The Transfer Station attendant is helpful in helping anyone locate the proper bins. The following items have a designated area for recycling: newspapers, magazines, office paper, paper products, washed glass bottles and jars with caps removed, corrugated cardboard, aerosol cans, clean aluminum and other food/beverage cans, vehicle batteries, metals, fluorescent bulbs, rechargeable batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges, plastics.

Disposal of larger items such as televisions, furniture, should not be placed within the WRCA waste disposal shed on Joshua Loop. These materials should be brought to the Transfer Station because of the lack of space in the shed. Furthermore, by bringing recyclable items to the Transfer Station they will be reused or recycled rather than ending up in a landfill or incinerator. Furthermore, there is a drop off area for gently used items such as clothes, small household items, toys, etc.
